Interactive Sound Baths
Interactive sound baths allow participants to experience many of the instruments played close to, as well as directly on their bodies. Interactive sound baths are offered individually and in small group settings.
To begin, you will be invited to create an intention for the session and to write your intention on a piece of paper that will be folded and placed into one of the singing bowls which will be played during the session. Next, participants will have the opportunity to play a Tibetan singing bowl as well as experience a Tibetan Bowl played, while gently placed on top of their head, creating a truly immersive sound experience. April will invite each participant to experience the Innato (Innate) flute being played while placed gently on their heads. April has created the intention for her flute to remind people of their connection to their true, authentic self. Everyone will then be invited to get comfortable sitting or lying down for the sound bath. During the sound bath, a variety of instruments will be played. Quartz crystal and Tibetan singing bowls are played to help quite the busy mind chatter of the day, to invite a deeper state of relaxation, and to balance the body's energy. Tibetan metal singing bowls are also played placed on the body of those participants who are interested so their resonance can be experienced deep within the body. As your body and brain waves synchronize with the harmonic patterns of the bowls, you are brought into a state of deep relaxation and harmony. Other instruments such as Koshi chimes, a rain/ocean disc, Tingsha bells, a crystal pyramid chime, a gong, flow chimes, and tuning forks may be used to create an evolving immersive bath of sound and vibration. Your session will end with a few minutes of silence allowing you to integrate your sound bath experience fully.
About the Innato Flute:
The Innato is a unique instrument made in the Netherlands by Hans Houkes. It is a three-chambered clay instrument that can be played on a person’s head for an enveloping sound experience. The word Innato means inborn, unlearned, and within all of us. April plays her Innato with the intention that it connects listeners to their pure innate nature, their authentic self.
About Singing Bowls:
Tibetan, or Himalayan, metal singing bowls
Although commonly called Tibetan singing bowls, they actually originated in the Himalayas of Nepal and India before spreading to Tibet, China, Japan, Afghanistan, Vietnam, Egypt, and America. Assumed to have been used in ancient and esoteric practices, they are often associated with having a spiritual quality. In the West they have gained in popularity and are currently used in mindfulness practices, in wellness and yoga studios, and even some newer Buddhist rituals.
Crystal Singing Bowls
Quartz Crystal Singing Bowls are cast at temperatures of 4000 degrees. These more contemporary versions of the singing bowls are often tuned to a single note and create lovely sounds when struck and when “sung”. These notes are thought to correspond to the energy centers of our body, our chakras, so the bowls are often used to help balance the body’s energy.
Growing interest in the bowls and sound treatments, as well as claims about their stress reducing and health promoting benefits, has generated some research into studying these benefits.
